Thank you for your comments about Abundant Life. My family has been attending this church for over 6 years now and we love it very much. One point I felt I should make is I've never felt discouraged from working outside the home, rather the focus is on how we can glorify God best in our lives. Thank you again and may God bless your ministry. P.S. "Headcoverings"??? I don't know any members who wear one.

I am glad you have found such a good church to worship with. We think Abudant Life is a wonderful church. Sound in theology and passionate about God.

My comments about women not working outside the home were drawn both from coversations with people inside the Sovereign Grace movement and from a Sovereign Grace publication that addressed roles in family and biblical complementarianism.

As far as the headcoverings, perhaps it was just the Sunday I was there but there were two women wearing a traditional headcovering and when I attended the Sovereign Grace church in San Diego there was also a woman wearing one there. Headcoverings really are not a big deal, they just may be personal style. However, there does seem to be a dominant culturally conservative thrust in the Sovereign Grace movement (little interaction with culture; i.e. "secular" dress, music, movies, books, magazines, art etc.).

I agree, the question always ought to be how we may best glorify God in our lives. Our persuasion at occhurches.org is that God is greatly glorified when we live with a great liberality in mixing with culture. We see culture as a platform for preaching the gospel so that the world may be convicted and drawn in to worship our majestic God. We long to see people of all different styles (tribes and tongues) be enamered with the beauty and power of the Saviour. We feel that in America, much of the church in its fear of sin (and we should mortify sin) has run away from those Jesus ran after. So much so that there is no longer room for the whore, thief, drunkard, tattooed, pierced, and other societal outcasts in our church. They are made to feel out of place and that they must first conform to our conservative styles before they can even get in the front door and hear the gospel.

Perhaps I've said too much. I only do beacuse we really like and praise God for Abudant Life and the Sovereign Grace movement. We love that you are reformed and evangelistic. This is so needed. May God bless your church as you worship Him and draw others into that worship.
